Top 4 Neurosurgeons in The World

Top 4 Neurosurgeons in The World

Dr. Salvatore Di Maio's Ratings
If all the doctors in Canada were like him and had secretaries like him, the health system would achieve perfection. He is so attentive, so gentle and so smart. I just wish the entire health care system was full of Dr. Di Maio's.
Was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Met with Dr. Di Maio for a second option and very glad i did. At the time i was very emotional and scared to have surgery, but Dr. Di Maio took the time to explain the procedure and answered all my questions, but most of all put me at ease that everything will be just fine and indeed it was! Dr. Di Maio thank you doesn't come close to describing my gratitude for all you have done for me. Not only are you an outstanding doctor, but you are a wonderful person. Because of your gift as a surgeon. You are the best and i will never forget.

When confronted with a medical nightmare which necessitates the expertise of a neurosurgeon, you simply do not want one who is only good but one who is excellent just like Dr. Di Maio. He is truly a gifted specialist in his field and I consider myself very lucky to have had him as my neurosurgeon. He operated and very successfully removed a large sized tumor on June 30th of 2014 and since then, I have recovered beautifully. To this day, my friends and family are left in awe, when they either learn about or see my progress only 5 months after my 11 hour surgery. Dr. Di Maio also played another key role in my journey to finally put an end to this frightening experience. He was able to very quickly secure for me, an appointment with a radiologist at the Jewish General Hospital, for the purposes of treating a second small meningioma with 1 strong dose of radiation. I have now resumed my normal life, which is even better and healthier than before. Dr. Di Maio, an expert in his field is soft spoken, compassionate and he exudes confidence, especially when explaining this very difficult procedure. This in turn seems to impact very positively on the morale of his patients and I know this first hand since it did for me. When I logged into “Rate my MD” to write a about my experience as Dr. Di Maio’s patient, I was not surprised by all the positive things people had written. I stand behind each and every statement made in praise of this neurosurgeon and his wonderful staff such as Debi and Dana, who gave me the attention I needed after I was released from the hospital. Once again thank you Dr. Di Maio.
Merci infiniment !
On January 3, 2014, I had an endoscopic TRANS-NASAL PITUITARY SURGERY, at Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, to extract a benign tumour from my hypophysis. The early intervention by neurosurgeon Dr. Salvatore DI MAIO, MDCM, FRCS ©, who performed the surgery, was salutary for me. Aptly named Salvatore, his empathic presence is always reassuring and comforting. Without any doubt, the 4-hour operation deserves a PERFECT 5/5 SCORE. Competency is the key word. Forty (40) hours later, I could stand by myself and take a short walk.
Dr. DI MAIO’s devoted administrative assistant, Debi, was also very welcoming. Together, they make a wonderful team. I am grateful to both !
Dr. Di Maio is a very kind, dedicated, knowledgeable and hardworking doctor who treats patients with respect. He has outstanding 'soft' skills when it comes to speaking with patients and families. He operated on my brother's tumors and in spite of his busy schedule was available to meet and answer questions. Our family is fortunate to have had him provide treatment. An excellent all around doctor.
Dr Dimaio is one of the best Neurosurgeons in Canada and came highly recommended by patients and doctors alike. We consulted with many people before deciding to have my best friends tumors removed. As a result the same story was reiterated from all, that Dr Dimaio is the best Neurosurgeon in Canada and outstanding on every level. His level of experience, skill, and impeccable bedside manner are very seldom found together in one doctor but they certainly are in Dr. Dimaio's case. Despite his busy schedule he would always make himself available. Never rushed and always welcomed us, there isn,t anything this man wouldn't to do to help, even if it went beyond his duties as a doctor. He has treated my best friend and his family with utmost kindness, compassion and respect. I would also like to extend my thanks to his Medical Secretary Debi who has helped us to have a positive experience despite a very difficult health crisis.

Dr. Randal R. Peoples's Ratings
We refer to Dr. Randal R. Peoples as ''DR. WOW = WALKS ON WATER"! Our thoughts in five easy words. And we wish they had higher ratings than 5. One year ago today, 7/1/14, my husband had to have several benign tumors removed from his throat at the top of his esophagus so he could swallow. Then, on 11/18/14, he had back surgery due to spinal stenosis. Both were difficult surgeries. Dr. Peoples was the most knowledgeable, detailed, sensitive, compassionate, and wonderful doctor we could have even chosen. He is also a very wonderful and caring person and we cannot say enough quality comments about him. We were also impressed how patient he was when answering our numerous questions and explaining details in layman's terms. He never made us feel rushed while in consultations and went above and beyond the call of duty with outstanding professionalism. His nurse, Dee, is also a plus! In conclusion, every thing he told us about the healing process was accurate. It will be our pleasure to highly recommend him to anyone who asks us for a referral. You won't find anyone better!!! D & J Gilberti
He ran me through multiple tests be for he decided that he could help my low back. After the surgery I walked out the next morning. I strongly recommend Dr. Peoples.
My husband went to Dr. Patrick McNulty for back surgery. After the surgery, the incision had a hole in it that had to be packed after doing so for 8 months we decided to get a second opinion. We were referred to Dr. Peoples. He was the most detailed Dr. We'd ever been to see. He referred us to wound care to get the wound healed. After the wound healed, my husband went back to Dr Peoples because there was still a cyst on his spine that was either missed by Dr McNulty or was new. Dr People did surgery and removed the cyst. That may sound easy, but there was an inch of scar tissue that had to be cut out. He did a great job. He is the best of the best. Not only is he great but Dee, his assistant, is also wonderful. Thank you Harold and Carol Van Blake
I was candidate for fusion surjury by local Orthopedic serjeon. i met Dr. Peoples as a second opinion doctor and Dr. Peoples said let's try Mckenzie Method physical therapy first. i went for 18sessions and now im back to work on full duty. Thank you Dr. Peoples and his staff Dee.
Dr. Randal Peoples is the best of the best neurosurgeons in his field. The most competent doctor not only because of his knowledge, kindness, compassion, great heart, and a great listener t and communicator. When I saw doctor Peoples after seeing an spine doctor, I realized how the surgery proposed by doctor Peoples was my best choice because was way less invasive than the other proposed surgery. After months of extreme pain and therapy Doctor Peoples was so kind and scheduled me as soon as he could, he saw me at his office even after hours. My appointment was on Friday and my surgery was the following Monday. What a great doctor, I was walking around the room the same day of surgery, my pain was almost gone, I had only the pain related to the surgery. 10 days later I am walking with almost no restrictions. Thank you Doctor Peoples and staff. GP
I have known Dr. Peoples for over twelve years. He did the laminectomy for me. Of all the doctors that I have known, he is the most personable, most compassionate, and most skilled.
I am convinced that Dr. Peoples's is a very competent neurosurgeon. Of equal importance he is a great person - compassionate, a good listener, and a great communicator.

Dr. Peoples was kind, interested in me and cured my pain. I had a problem that I thought I would just have to live with. Fortunately he didn' t see it that way. After many other doctors tried to "help" by giving me drugs, Dr. Peoples gave me a cure. Thank you for giving me back my life, Dr. Peoples.
Best doctor in his field - if anyone had to operate on my brain, I would trust no one else. He he thorough compassionate and incredibly capable.
The absolute best doctor I have ever been treated by. He is patient, knowledgable and kind. His expertise is unmatched and it is very evident that he truly cares about his patients. I am so grateful he is my doctor.
Dr. Sharad Rajpal's Ratings
Dr Rajpal did a tough cervical spine repair and fusion for me. The surgical recovery was extremely easy with no side effects. I would go back to him for anything in his repertoire. Excellent surgeon, and his staff is outstanding.
Dr. Rajpal performed a lumbar micro-diskectomy on me 60 days ago and provided immediate relief to the nerve pain in my legs, and my lower back as well. He also did a double cervical fusion on me 15 months ago, and after years of arm tingling and numbness, the nerves are on the mend. He is simply the best neurosurgeon in Boulder, CO. He is efficient and confident. His staff is very friendly and works hard to get everyone scheduled and cleared by insurance.
MY MOTHER IS 91 YEARS OLD AND WAS QUICKLY LOSING HER MOBILITY. DR RAJPAL'S SURGERY HAS "BROUGHT HER BACK" SHE CONSIDERS HIM "GENIUS" I CONSIDER HIM ONE OF THE BEST, MOST TALENTED DOCTORS I HAVE EVER MET! HE IS FANTASTIC ON ALL COUNTS!
Dr. Rajpal has done a cervical fusion and 3 wks ago a lumbar fusion on me. After 3 years of chronic severe pain, and many doctors telling me there was nothing wrong, Dr. Rajpal looked at my MRI and 5 minutes later showed my husband and I the problem. He since has done the surgery for that issue, and I am 80% better 9 months later.
I'm not exaggerating when I say he gave my life back to me. (God credit first). I would recommend him to anyone. He is very down to earth, explains things completely and it seems to me he really cares about his patients and enjoys what he does. Always bright and chipper, too. I am very grateful.
I recently had to have a fusion in my upper neck. I had never had any real surgery (other than a knee scope) in my life. When I was referred to Dr. Rajpal I had no idea what to expect. When my wife and I made our first visit we were both very impressed with Dr. Rajpal. His knowledge was incredible and he never once rushed us even with all of our questions. There was a potential for some complications (swallowing for one) which Dr. Rajpal had already told us about prior to the surgery. The day of the surgery Dr. Rajpal made me feel at ease as much as possible. The surgery went well and I didn't have any complications. We've had two follow up visits with Dr. Rajpal and I am now beginning physical therapy. I want to say thank you to Dr. Rajpal and his staff (which are also incredible to work with) for helping through this process. I am very thankful that I was referred to Dr. Rajpal.
I have lived with serious lower back issues for over 30 years. I had a fusion 19 years ago and Dr. Rajpal just performed my second fusion several months ago after carefully evaluation my situation. Even with surgical complications Dr. Rajpal made everything work out just as he predicted. Dr. Rajpal is AWESOME. AWESOME+. AWESOME+++. I was riding my bicycle 3 months after surgery. I have my life back. Back surgery is scary and outcomes should never be taken for granted but Dr. Rajpal gets the job done.
Dr. Rajpal is outstanding. His confidence and patient response to my endless questions gave me the courage I needed to face brain surgery. His high success and low complication rates convinced me that no one else would do. He was honest in his expectations so I knew exactly what I faced. There were complicating factors in my surgery, but Dr. Rajpal calmly and competently worked through them all to complete success with virtually no side effects. Two years later, you would never believe I had had brain surgery. THANK YOU, Dr. Rajpal for saving my life. P.S. - his staff is amazing too, tirelessly battling my insurance company for every test, every procedure along the way.
Dr. Rajpal is an amazing doctor! He is very knowledgeable and has a great bed-side manner. He was very thorough and explained things in a very clear and understandable way. I had had two previous Laminectomy surgeries with a previous doctor and recently had my third surgery, a fusion, with Dr. Rajpal. I was naturally concerned about recovering from my third surgery of the same area with all the scar tissue already present. But, to my delight the recovery was much easier and quicker than I had anticipated! My scar looks fantastic, especially for my third incision! Dr. Rajpal does such a great job before, during and after surgery. I have not felt this good in 3 years! It is amazing to not be in pain every second of everyday anymore! I am truly grateful to Dr. Rajpal for giving me my mobility back! I have already recommended Dr. Rajpal to several friends and family!
Dr. Rajpal took the pain away after months of constant pain and spasms and not finding relief with other doctors. He did a complicated surgery and I am now pain free. He took the time to listen to me. He is a caring and very talented doctor.
Dr. Taufik Valiante's Ratings
I guess he is a very great surgeon and also an inspiration for us the young bloods who are coming into the life of sleepless nights and always holding a scalpel
This is an amazing man! Brilliant, compassionate, world class. We are so lucky in Toronto to call him ours. He performed epilepsy surgery on my son and for the first time in 26 years my son is seizure free. Words can not do Dr. Valiante justice.
Dr. Taufik Valiante is exceptional surgeon and person. Saved my mom 10 years ago. Highly recommend him and Toronto Western Hospital.
Thank you for everything.
Grateful, Sanja Corovic
amazing doctor saved my mom in 2007 at toronto western hospital
Amazing doctor, amazing surgeon, amazing person. If anyone has the opportunity, no matter how unfortunate the situation may be, be thankful and feel comfortable you are in the hands of Dr Valiante. Thank you for changing my life.
Dr Valiante took ten hours (instead of the predicted 6) to remove my posterior fossa tumour - leaving behind as little damage as possible. His residents and fellow were exemplary. On return visits Dr. Valiante is engaged and empathetic -- stress after brain cancer, the anxiety of a recurrence is overwhelming but both surgeon and his support staff manage it extraordinarily well.
If I could make the rating 10 out of 5 I would because Dr. Valiante and his staff go above and beyond for his patients! I had brain surgery a few years ago for seizures and it wasn't anticipated to have 100% recovery but so far it seems that's the case (don't want to jinx it) :) He is able to clearly communicate very complicated subject matter into a way that is entirely comprehensible. He shows much compassion for his patients - even though it's his job to cut us open he doesn't forget that this is (hopefully) a once in a lifetime experience for the patients. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, he is extremely smart, an excellent doctor and wonderful person overall! Highly, highly, highly recommend him and Toronto Western Hospital in general.

I had an incredible experience with Dr. Taufik Valiante and his team. He performed a microdiscectomy for a herniated disc Dr. Valiante’s reputation is impeccable and so I trusted him 100% and, without any doubt or concern, I booked the surgery. I remember being wheeled into the OR with such excitement at the thought of waking up without the debilitating pain I had been enduring for so long. An hour after I awoke, the nurses had me walking and I was able to do so unassisted for the first time in 2 months! The next day I began taking short walks which lead to normal daily activities just a week later. Today, I’m 100% and extremely happy with my decision to have this surgery and overwhelmingly grateful to Dr. Valiante for changing my life! He is as lovely as he is talented and no doctor could ever compare on any level. Thank you to the entire team who were easily accessible, friendly and professional. May God bless you for the miracles you perform and the lives you change.
Dr. Taufik Valiante, beyond being an exceptional surgeon, is a caring wonderful person who has made a difference in my life. With Alina Shcharinsky, his amazing first class Nurse Practitioner, and the caring Gae Slater at the front office, my otherwise fearful anxiety ridden situation could not have been made better. I both respect and have great affection for this doctor. I feel blessed to have had him and his amazing team to look after me. While I am still recouperating, and I wish everything was "cured", I am so confident now knowing that Dr. Valiante is looking after me. Thank you Dr. Valiante
